Alan R. Parrish

Alan R. Parrish, PhD

Professor in Medical Pharmacology and Physiology, Scientific Advisor

Professor Parrish began his career as an independent investigator in the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine where his laboratory focused on age-dependent loss of N-cadherin and alpha-catenin expression in the kidney as a factor of the increased susceptibility of the aging kidney to injury. In 2010, Alan moved his laboratory to the University of Missouri, where his group was able to demonstrate that alpha-catenin expression regulates Fas-mediated apoptosis, but not necrosis. Along with his interest in longevity, Professor Parrish has a variety of mentoring experience from 6 PhD students, 1 MD/PhD candidate to serving on over 30 dissertation committees. He is a well-known scientist with over 80 peer-reviewed papers and 5 book chapters. Professor Parrish brings years of experience and expertise to Longaevus in his role as a Scientific Advisor.
